THE PROFESSIONAL CRICKETERS' ASSOCIATION
Complete digital management – from live data feeds to email marketing and web development
To develop and maintain a user-friendly, multifunctional website to engage all stakeholders in cricket, from players and past players to commercial partners and fans.
The PCA website gets, on average, 30,000 unique visitors per month – via direct search or news syndicated links via networks such as ESPN and the BBC – via stories managed by our team.
We have worked with the PCA for a number of years, developing their website to serve the needs of all stakeholders.
As well as regularly updating news stories on the site, we continually review content to ensure player information is up to date and commercial and events information is current.
We also maintain and develop the intricate data feeds required to create the MVP (Most Valuable Player) ranking system, keeping fans informed of the best performing cricketers.
Such a large-scale website takes daily management and real time updating.
'Most Valuable Player'
How we turn raw data into cricket's famous MVP
The MVP is a cumulative points system that awards players for every run scored, wicket taken and catch held – and, how well they do it. A player achieves bonus points based in certain criteria. An overview of the formula is set out below:
Batting + Bowling + Fielding + Captaincy + Winning = Total MVP points.
How this is achieved
We collect data from live streams and various data capture sources, such as news outlets and data houses, throughout the cricket season.
These data streams are then converted in real-time and displayed as a cumulative live points scoring system across the PCA’s website.
…Lake Creative helps us to effectively communicate with our members and increase awareness of the PCA’s work, and cricket in general, to a wider audience, through the management of our website and delivery of our monthly e-newsletters.
Having the right web solution is very important for us, and that’s what we get from Lake. The team is fantastic to work with – friendly, efficient and always able to work through any problems to find the right solution…
